The Aegean area of Turkey is an area situated on the coast of Turkey making up of many infamous modern towns, historical sites and stunning natural aesthetic landscapes which surround the area. Many people look at amenities available when deciding a holiday destination. One reason which makes the Aegean region an attractive holiday destination is that in the midst of this beautiful region are two major cities, Izmir and Bodrum. Izmir being the 3rd largest city in Turkey is large enough to cater for any need so there is always peace of mind that civilisation is not too far away if there is a need.
The Aegean always conjures up a vision of belting hot sun, blue skies, and a turquoise sea. Turkey is blessed with some beautiful stretches of sea shore, and the Robinson Club Sarigerme Park, Sarigerme, is located on just such a stretch – smooth, sun-kissed sands. Activities abound, perfect for keeping your restless teenagers occupied, and even better for the teenagers – breakfast is served for late risers! There is a fantastic choice of Aegean hotels to suit any taste and budget.
In Bodrum, the Aegean Gate Hotel welcomed me with a rather stunning location of rocky foothills overlooking the bay. The evening brought stunning views, a must for me when I am relaxing on holiday – and I was delighted with the food. It is a little further in from the beach, but everything else was so good it made no difference to our lovely holiday.
If you’re a couple looking for a romantic break, in the beautiful and ancient town of Alacati there is a tiny, stone built gem of a hotel, complete with pool, intimate and beautiful surroundings, and delicious breakfasts. This could be your honeymoon destination. Of all the hotels in Turkey – Aegean region, that I have had the pleasure of staying at, this one would be in the top ten. Sadly for children, but not perhaps for those who want to escape them, little people (those under 12) are not normally allowed at this rather special place. Where is it? The Tas Otel.
But for a tighter budget, head down to the Oludeniz beach – Tonoz Beach Hotel was two minutes away from the beach on foot, and provides some excellent full and half board deals. It was nice and clean, which is always a must, and the food at Daphne’s, one of their restaurants, was great. A good choice for a half term break!
Best Time to Enjoy the Aegean Region
It is no surprise that the summer months see a rise in family breaks away to sun soaked parts of the world. The Aegean region is no different. Families go flocking to the area mainly because of the accessibility to stunning beaches and buildings being of an iconic stature. With modern towns being scattered around the area it is an ideal location for families who can enjoy the rural effect of the beaches along with having amenities associated in these towns.
The area is very family oriented with a strong enough appeal for tourism to exist but without it being too populated with diluting the overall travel experience. It is an area with a lot of appeal as being close to the water it is ideal for the active visitor. An active visitor ideally looks for thrills and spills. The area provides a lot of entertainment to the visitors who like water activities such as water skiing, boating etc.
The offshore activities are enjoyable not only available because of the warm waters that are available but also because of the overall ambiance of the area.
